Official Firefox 1.5.0.5 update for Windows
I updated my Firefox to 1.5.0.5 since I got a pop-up saying that it was ready to install and update Firefox. I click 'OK' as I have done in the past.
I am now unable to view certain webpages. They load much slower (and hang) and some don't load at all, like the Linxquestions.org forums! I have to use IE or Opera to get it working. Does anyone else have this problem with the new Firefox 1.5.0.5 for Windows?

I can't say that I've noticed any performance gains with the 1.5.X.X releases. They are more of security patches. That's my understanding. You should probably update for the security reasons. Do not, however, get 1.5.0.5 as I mentioned. Even on the Mozilla forum people are experiencing some slowness of loading pages. You should wait and see until they figure out the problem(s).
I am currently using the Opera browser as an alternative.
ok but no thanks. firefox 1.0.8 was realeased in almost the same time as 1.5.0.4 so that's not much on security issues. i'm happy with 1.0.8. and i just don't like the interface of 1.5.*. more like ie'sh. but oh well it's just up to us.
hey maybe 1.5.0.5 is not really meant to be called stable. maybe on 1.5.0.6. you gotta just wait.

This is weird, but I completely uninstalled Firefox 1.5.0.5 and reinstalled a fresh version and now everything seems to be working okay again. Strange! Maybe during the update something got corrupted. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Did the interface change at all between 1.0.* and 1.5.*? I didn't notice anything, but I've got my firefox themed. Or rather, I did, until my computer started thrashing if I left it open for more than 24 hours. I'm on opera right now, until I get more RAM

hmmm seems that both of you guys like opera. i'll try that browser some time. anyway about the interface, if it changed?. technically yes. the options or the preferences are more like the ie's. i find it easier to use the old one in 1.0.* especially when setting and unsetting the the web features' options.
