So today I went to Future Shop, and I went to one of the computers with vista on them. So I launch IE 7 and it came up almost instantly, surprisingly enough. I launch a couple more explorer windows and did the famous "Windows Flip 3d", it isn't as good as it looks on tv , it just looks like pictures of the windows in a different direction, which is nothing close to beryl or the new Compiz-Fusion. Then I look in the programs and I looked at the new windows media player 11, and it looked pretty nice. Another thing I liked about it was the true translucency, which didn't slow the computer down at all, even with the taskbar translucent. My final word, Windows Vista, is not as bad as it seems, well it least within 5 minutes of using it and it does look pretty nice, but Windows Flip 3d is useless and is basically an enhancement of alt-tab function. I give it 3/5 stars and thank you for reading my review of Windows Vista.
Wolf in sheep's skin? Have you seen the pic of the Vista stand where one of the computers has the updated service pack of the new BSOD fully installed?
You said it, it is only useful for 5 minutes of usage
Soooooo...just reinstall every 5 minutes? hahaha
Seriously, I moderated on a "technical" forum for a bit...I found it odd that people laughed when I criticized Vista. Sure, 12 new security enhancements...only 1 is really worth it (address layout randomization), and it's only available in the top two most expensive "builds" of Vista. Woo-effin-hoo...I caught a bunch of flac for being one of those "open source hippies" as some of the users on that forum so lovingly put it.
Funny part was, however, when I was asked to assist with helping those same people wipe/reinstall XP after Vista was released...doh? Right about then I hung up the mod hat and said "NEVER AGAIN".
P.S. - props to the mods on this forum...you're doing a tough job
no, not true translucency, true translucency is when you can see through it and it blurs what ever is behind it slightly, you probably thinking of transperancy
So today I went to Future Shop, and I went to one of the computers with vista on them.
It should look nice in the store, on equipment that is probably certified for Vista. But one of the main problems with Vista is its compatibility with older hardware, and its high hardware specification requirements. There's a relatively higher chance that if you bought Vista and installed it on your XP computer you'd be very disappointed, and would want to return to XP.
