I have a couple computers with the same password i'd like to get on to. it would be time-consuming to run chntpw on each and every one, but if i could get into the password on one it would work with the others, thus saving me time.

If you don't have a legitimate account on one of those boxen, forget it (and anyone answering this question will violate the LQ Rules). if you have, then please elaborate on the "get on to" part.
my friend gave me a couple of older computers a couple years ago that he didn't want any more. Now i've finally gotten around to working on them. I'm thinking I can set up a couple workstations. The problem is i forgot the password my friend told me, and i don't think i wrote it down. they are slow (k6 200 mhz 64 mb ram), so it would be time-consuming to use up the whole ntchpw boot cd on each one to reset the password. It would be much nicer just to get the password on one of them, because they all share the same password.
