if the root password is forgotten.....


i had my brother put suse 9.2 on his computer, and he has forgotten his root password. any suggestions?

boot a live cd and use it to erase the password from the /etc/shadow file...

also, AFAIK, if you have your lilo/grub set to allow parameters you can give it the "single" parameter and that will get you into single-user mode... you should then be able to set a new password from there...
