Unhappy forgotten username and password


I installed Redhat 8 a while ago and now have forgoten my username and password and so can't get in..... My machine is dual boot with xp pro on the other.
Any help would be great..

assuming you are booting with lilo installed, press escape at the selection screen and run "linux init 1" and you'll get intoi linux. then you can set your root password using "passwd" then reboot and you'll be able to login as root. as root you can then change anyones password, with passwd again.

..and assuming that you are NOT booting with lilo, AND you are afraid of modifying grub's config, use the following:
Insert RH8 cd, and on the bootup-screen that says "welcome to RedHat Linux 8.0"
type "linux rescue" <ret> . then when it has booted into rescue type
"chroot /mnt/sysimage" <ret> and change any pwd's you like.
