Speaking of standardized testing, I remember being subjected to the 'preparations' and such to get through the TAAS tests. Yes, I was in the school systems here in TX when TAAS was the favorite, remember TAAS? Now it is TAKS or TAAKS or whatever the hell its called now. I don't understand how standardized testing such as these are supposed to help any.

It sounded good as a campaign promise........to someone, somewhere? And don't forget the idea of social promotion, where it was deemed harmful to hold a kid back who hadn't learned the material. Genius.
