View Poll Results: Who is your favorite singer or band?
Don't have just one.
Marisa Monte, Otis Redding, Caetano Veloso, Milton Nascimento, Manu Chao.
Then there are the groups such as O Rappa, Nação Zumbi, Screeching Weasel, The Who, Black Flag, Temptations, AfroCeltic Sound System, etc.
Add Blues, Jazz, Bossa Nova, Samba
and about anything tasteful.
Yeah. And I still haven't figured out who Lady Gaga is. So she's a singer, I guess. I just recently quit using yahoo email and it seemed like every time I logged in news articles were shoved in my face, "Extra, extra, Lady Gaga wears silly hat!" I didn't know she was a singer, I thought she was just someone who wore silly hats.
My 13 year old neice likes selena gomez. After that and Gaga I'm clueless.
Ah, Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers are also on that poll. You should know who they are also.
If you don't: Miley has the title role in "Hannah Montana" and got her fame from THAT show (and the rest is history). And the Jonas Brothers (Nick, Joe, and Kevin) also got their start with Disney and got famous for (1) their music and (2) dating other Disney artists, including Cyrus and Demi Lovato, also on that poll. Lovato is from Camp Rock, a movie that the Jonas Brothers were in.
Edit: And Jason DeRulo is an artist who sang such songs as "In My Head" and "Whatchu Say" and is known primarily in California, having got his fame from KIIS FM. And Emily Osment is Miley's friend Lilly on "Hannah Montana". I could have also put Mitchel Musso, but decided to leave it at that.

If you start a poll about favorite music, you should list actual music choices, not pop drivel.

This quote just goes to show that NONE of these idiots got their start in music. They are not musicians, they are opportunists who used another method to break into music solely for the purpose of making money.
The OP is still in high school. I may be wrong.
Mr. Strawn also is limited to mainstream American pop culture. He has been given a good amount of artists for auditory experimentation, whether or not he decides to do such is up to him.
I do find it strange that Mr. Strawn, being in California, would have such limited musical exposure.

I guess if the OP really insists on listening to 'pop' then I guess he should at least listen to those that got into music by talent only. Perhaps he should at least start with Michael Jackson (before he got all weird), and by far his best work was Thriller. Pop music sure, but at least THAT has some value.
Also there is The Beatles, since technically they started out as a 'boyband' type group, but they also evolved musically after that; White Album, Abbey Road, etc.

I am amazed, since I would imagine listening to that kind of music in high school would be detrimental to one's safety in that kind
of environment.
Well LOL!
I have never heard of any of them on that poll.
Agreed, except for Lady Gaga ... whom I would have preferred not knowing about anyway.
My favorite band is either Nirvana or Marcy Playground. It's hard to choose, but I like all albums from each but one. Bleach and MP3, respectively, I absolutely hate.
More like assimilates with the blob called society. You become a part of the blob.
And then all the leaders have to do is throw something in and it instantly gets absorbed and becomes one with the blob. They can throw anything they want, even something completely different from what they threw in before ... the blob accepts all without question.
Weird Al Yankovic is the lost poll option I should have put in this poll. I really love his song "White and Nerdy". My friends, believe it or not, danced to it as the first song in a remix that I made for them. The other songs? "Bootylicious" by Beyoncé, Tik Tok by Ke$ha and "Die Another Day" (I can't remember the singer on this last one).
