Do you shutdown that computer ?

As electricity is still not too cheap to meter (as was predicted in the 1950s) and it produces pollution. I turn it off when I am not using it.
Also turning things off reduces the risk of fire.

i turn my PCs of when im going out and over night and when im not using it for a wile i put it into hibernation. my servers on the other hand need to be on 24/7/365 for www, email, DNS and other stuff

So, in short, my LCD screen uses $5-$10 a year in electricity. Wouldn't surprise me if some tree huggers passed a law forcing me to turn my PC off every night though. To save the planet, of course.
