This article says Comcast is blocking Bittorent file sharing.
I have had problems downloading bittorent files using AT&T has anyone had similar problems ?

I wonder if anyone saw the news this weekend about an 86 year old
lady who got fed up with being lied to about appointment time, had
her phone number of some 60 years changed by the Comcast tech when
he hooked up her digital phone (and it didn't work), so she called
the local Comcast office on her cell phone (pay-as-you-go) and
was put on hold.
So, she goes down TO the office and demands to see a "Manager",
they tell her one will be right out...two hours later, they tell
her he's "left for the day" (Ooooooooo, can YOU see the "Flames
of HELL" coming out of that sweet, old, head?)
She goes back home, goes down to her basement, gets a 16oz claw
hammer and goes BACK to Comcast...Isn't this what we ALL would
like to do? She proceeds, when she gets to the counter, to smash
the computer keyboard, then knocks over the monitor. Cops are
called and they tell her to "put the hammer down, Lady". She
does, on top of the I-net phone, ROFLMAO!!!
Comcast's remarks, "Well, she shouldn't have done that." The
lady is now with a satellite company and no problems, hehehehe.
I certainly can understand her frustration as we have Comcast
here in Shreveport, LA. It $UX$ as well. They monitor where
you go on the Web, every site! Talk about Big Brother! That's
why I only have a limited tv package with them, but not after
New Years.
I have BellSouth DSL, which is flaky when the weather gets damp. The telco lines are old (1930's) and in a tree area (the South) so the
squirrels chew into the big trunk lines and water gets in them. It doesn't help that I live at the end of the Central Office (CO) either, LOL! But, if I went wireless, I'd have to put up a 75' tower to point the 802.11 (?) feed horn at the building in downtown Shreveport to hit it.
So far, there is only one wireless provider here, Bluebirdand sevice is well over $150. a month for the slowest connection. Oh well, I'll just have to stay until something better comes along.

Interesting anecdote, got a link to that story? Edit: Found it - you were off by 11 years
Actually, Comcast is not blocking bittorrent. Their method is much more invasive than that. They inject packets to sender and receiver saying nothing got through. They two nodes end up not talking to each other anymore. Much worse than mere port blocking.
Comcast, however, does not block port 80 - or any other port - making home web servers easy to do. Verizon FIOS on the other hand does.
