at one time i had windows xp and linux mint dual-booting on one of my computers.
firefox and chrome on both operating systems.
i swear, windows had 4-5 times as much advertisement, pop-ups, junk and BS as mint did.
is it my imagination ? am i the only person who has noticed this ?
someone reply to this please.
Otherwise. I agree "they" can't target all of GNU\Linux the same way, e.g: eula...
Okay. Though some distros I'd wonder (and ?evolving,) for example may have a "package manager" with commercials?
I like that the top free browsers can sync our add-ons to the next time we install( not that I login to them for that "feature" http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ad-4175581899/
but I just reinstall the add-ons ).

Dunno ... I still wonder why so many Linux distros, given that they are used in so many commercial settings, still seem to feel the need to "dance around" the issue of revenue.
Red Hat was the first company that I saw which was totally up-front about it, and that's exactly why I bought so many shares ... (koff, koff) ... at their IPO. (I bought AAPL, too ...) They had "an obvious and clear revenue model," from day one, and it was very clear that this model was going to work for their target customer: corporations.
Dunno ... a lot of good Internet ideas "die on the vine" because they do not have a revenue model. Even "advertising" does not work well. They spend "the amount of time that it actually takes to produce a product," and put it out into the world ... which never realizes (or cares) that it exists. And, even if they did, feels no unction to pay for it.
The music and performing-arts industries thrive because they do have "performing rights agencies (PROs)" which actively patrol for "uses" of material and which ensure that, somehow, some revenue is obtained.
One reason why I have never bothered to produce a "mobile app" for myself is that I perceive that there is no revenue in it.

Nah, Windows10 looks AWESOME, but does not come anywhere near how AWESOME Linux is.. Windows10 is sleek and shiny but I'll take Linux, It's sleeker and shinier. I don't knock Windows anymore, Linux has won. to Quote Linux Torvalds

Dude I switched to 10 after years of running win7 and it's a good OS. Of course there are drawn backs. I am an avid gamer and steam doesn't run so well in linux,I like to keep shit simple. I run Ubuntu on my laptop. I've had my steam account for 12 years now and I have over a 100 games.
