Authentication Required when connecting to Vista

I'm using a crossover cable between my Vista and Ubuntu machines. I want to be able to browse both computers on each other and also use my Vista computers internet connection on my Ubuntu machine. If actaully trying to do this via Wi-Fi aswell whitch I'm trying to figure out on this thread.

When using the crossover cable and going to Places/Network Servers, I can see my Vista machine, but it askes me for Authenticaion. What are theres details and how do I set it up?

it'll be a username that you've got configured on the windows. should be able to see them in the user tool in control panel.

not a network question, not actually a Linux question even. moved to General.

I can't find anything in the control panel about that. I understand that this might not sound like a Linux issue, but what's weird is that people logging on from a XP machine can access my Vista machine without it asking for usernames or passwords.
