how to detect CDROM in kde 3.4

I am using kde 3.4, but when ever i connect teh cdrom with a cd in it , and when i access it by using KDE GUI by clicking on cdrom i get an error saying i cant open the cdrom, how can i solve this problem

What kind of CD-ROM are you trying to access (data CD or music CD), and is this an internal CD drive or an external USB drive - I don't quite understand your bit about connecting the drive and inserting a CD...?

you can mount and using KDE GNU;

Command : # mount /dev/cdrom /cdrom

dear fouldsy

i am trying to access data cd and from a cdrom drive,when i click on cdrom icon on desktop in kde it throws me an error called to be
Could not mount device
mount : you must specify the filesystem type

this i can mount using the mount command and it will work, but from desktop cdrom icon and clickking it i cant access
