Fedora 24, install minimal xfce desktop

I usually use ubuntu or ubuntu derivatives. And to keep the size as small as possible I install Lubuntu then install xfce4 with this code:

Code:
sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends xubuntu-desktop
Doing it this way results in an installation that's half a gig smaller than just installing Xubuntu.

Is there any way to do similar in Fedora 24?

Thanks in advance.

Fedora 24 (Released today) :

Suggest : Run # yum grouplist
.. to see the "Available environment groups". ( KDE, Xfce, LXDE, Mate, etc.)

When running # yum groupinstall "Xfce Desktop"
.. you get the message that 'Installed size' = 361 MB

If that seems OK, you can hit y and get it installed.

Thanks for the response knudfl. When I do what I described with a ubuntu distro, the xubuntu-desktop only adds 24MB to 80MB. (usually 24MB) I'm guessing that I'm not going to get that kind of small install in fedora. Which suggests that I should just install the xfce spin.

Wonder if selecting the optional packages with the installer would also allow you to de-select some stuff?https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/File:Xfcewikipage3.png

Hey there jefro, that looks promising. I'll give that a go tomorrow.

Hi.

Debian is what you'd find searching "netinst" but Fedora has one too (i.e: netinstall which can also have more added from larger .iso files if no net.)

Basically they're very minimal like some distros off the bat, Arch for example. So, you may need to add more than just a DE and\or WM?

Have fun!

It will, I use to comb through there and check all kinds of stuff to see what it was. (My case is usually the opposite of minimal? )

Option 2 : Use the Fedora-Everything-netinst-x86_64-24-1.2.iso , suggested by @jamison20000e
http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedo..._64-24-1.2.iso

Software selection : Select Xfce in the left column,
.. and remove the tics in the right column (Xfce applications, etc.)

The total result is 1208 packages installed :
$ rpm -qa | sort >> OS-install-Jun2016.txt
