FC3 frustrating update problems

Whenever I want to update new packages, from redhat update agent or from the distribution CDs, I get dependency problems for the packages that already exit. Some how the update agent just doesn't see them!! It's so frustrating!! Hope someone can help!

The best thing to do is probably to switch to yum instead. It's already part of FC3.

I have also tried "yum update <package name>" but message I got was "could not find update match for <package name>"

Try using apt and synaptic.

The package name has to be an exact match for yum to work. You can use "yum search" with wildcards to find the right package.

The port of apt for RPM systems is technically unsafe, although in practice it seems to work without wrecking people's systems.
