Lindows Installation Problems - Very Frustrating!
Hello.
I have a problem with trying to install LOS 4.5 Devel on my system.
I can select a partition to install and actually install all the way up to 90 percent. At 90 percent the install program freezes and then does nothing. I have no clue what the problem could be. I tryied to run the install in diagnostic mode. Everything that printed on the screen seemed fine.
I ran the cd diag util and it came out fine, so I know there is nothing wrong with the cd.
I am running a PcChips m830LR motherboard. It has ac 97 sound. My gfx board is a ATI Radeon 7500. I have a USb "Micro Innovations" mouse.
Is there anybody that knows a solution?
In a previous post a user almost had the same problem, it froze at 90 percent, but he running a laptop, and he said something about IDE cables.
Thanks.

Hmmm, I know on a few older distros the hardware probe could fail while probing for SCSI cards but Lindows certainly isn't 'older'. Just in case, is there anyway to tell it not to probe for SCSI adapters?

No, I realise that, the old SCSI probe would fail whether there was any SCSI device present or not on certain systems (mine included: I had this problem with Corel Linux)

This may sound strange, but I have also read of folks having to re-burn the ISO at about 4x. Real Slow.

Did you check the md5sums when you downloaded the iso? Instructions for doing so are here: http://linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/verifyiso.html
Also, I have often fixed the problem by burning at a lower speed, as mentioned by Seakryan.

Hi Diode,
If you have downloaded .ISO image and burned it on CD. then you may have to verify .ISO image with following link:
Link : http://www.lindows.com/checksum
Also, I would suggest you to do installation with Diagostice mode and put the last 10-15 lines here.so i can give you exact soultion.
Also, you may want to visit following link to verify your H/W compatibility of your system. so just check your H/W with following link
