FC 7: X Window ( with 3d effects on ) crashing when switching consoles .

Hi friends,
I am using Fedora Core 7 for quite a long time. I recently turned my '3d desktop effects' on. Now when I switch between consoles, I cannot return to my Graphical Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+F7). It is either scrambled or not visible at all.

Is this is a common issue? Are any fixes available?
I am using GNOME on an 32bit x86 PC.

Could be just "normal" activity, or in other words, something that does happen on certain configurations. Any errors in your logfiles, such as /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

I think I've seen that on a pc some time ago, but can't say for sure if it was ever fixed..back then I couldn't find any other working solution than not switching to other login consoles.

I disabled the 3d desktop effects and now it works fine.
I did not find any specific error in the logfiles.
Anyways, thanks for your help.
