Hello all,
I recently aquired my mother's old Gateway 1400CS.
1.4GHz Pentium IV.
40GB HD
128Mb RDRAM - (400MHz)
It originally came with Windows ME, but mom upgraded to XP. As soon as I got it i reformated the HD and put Fedora on it. It ran fine for a while and then started freezing up randomly. Then it wouldn't boot at all...it just restarts after uncompressing the kernel. It outputs this:
Code:
Booting 'Fedora Core (2.6.11-1.1369_FC4)'
root (hd0,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
kernel /vmlinux-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet
[Linux-bzImage, setup=0x1e00, size=0x18e473]
initrd/initrd-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4.img
[Linux-initrd @ 0x7e0e000, 0x1a1125 bytes]
then it says something that i can't catch with the <pause> button.. like uncompressing linux or something.. then it restarts ... over and over and over.. ad infinitum..
i tried looking up bugs and anything i could find on google (and here, too) but nothing really fits this problem. maybe i just didn't look at the right threads - although i think i read the entire site.
any advice???
