Changing openoffice icons on FC5

Hello,

My question may be dumb but I'll ask anyway. I want to change the default FC icons for openoffice on Gnome (which I hate) for the original OOo 2 icons which look way better IMO.

Could someone tell me how we do it?

If you hate Gnome why don't u try other DE's like KDE,Xfce etc. MAybe u can get the original icons in them.

OK I didn't write my sentence well. I don't hate Gnome at all, I love it!! Or else, as you say, I would be using another DE. No, it's the OOo icons that I don't like.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

Have you tried "right clicking" on the icon, selecting "properties," clicking on the icon displayed in the properties dialog, and selecting a new one from the icon display?

Assuming you're using a recent release of Gnome, that should alow you to change the icon to suit yourself.

N.B.: I don't use Gnome much (preferring KDE), but that much works for me.

You can edit the openoffice desktop files usually located in the directory /usr/share/applications and change the line matching the word Icon=.

Thank you all for responding!

PTrenholme: Yes I did try ti right click in the icons but i couldn't change anything, and I am using a recent release of Gnome.

mrcheeks: Thanks! It worked! Now all I have to do now is to change the icons of the documents that I create with OOo and I'll be happy . I suppose they're in the /usr/share file too.

Once again, thank you all for your help!

OK. Either I'm as blind as a mole or I'm not trying hard enough. Either way, I suck.

I can't find the files that would allow me to change the icons that are automatically assigned to the documents I create with OOo.
See? When I work with OOo on windows, there's an icon for .odt files and another for .doc files and so on. I would like it to do the same thing on Gnome instead of getting the same icon for both .odt and .doc files and so on.

Can somebody help me please?
