Hi everyone.

this is just a quick question that shouldn't be to hard to answer. i am setting up the g/f's puter with fedora (figure that's as good a place to start as any) and i'm giving here one of my old hd's. it is setup as the primary slave and i can see it with other distros but not fedora OR redhat. i have tried to edit the fstab to mount it but all attempts fail. however, i can throw in a knoppix cd and see it (as well as access it) just fine. i'm also not seeing any posts on this issue either so i find that rather odd. i have installed fedora and rh a total of three timesto no avail. any thoughts are appreciated. thanks everybody.


p.s. i forgot to mention that unlike many other posts, i am using a dual boot to windows on hda only. hdb (hopefully) is to be used for storage and backups only.

how old is the hdd? i think more info would help like kernel version hdd's info company,rpms etc.. also it could be the harddisk like u said old mybe its too old to be supported in rh/fc1

no i seriously doubt that it's a hardware issue. i was just using it last week with CL 2.5 which is based on slack 9.1. as i mentioned, i can access it with knoppix as is. which has me thinking now that maybe i should just install knoppix to the hda... apt-get can be very user-friendly and she would appreciate that.... gonna have to think about that for a while. nonetheless, i'd still like the answer here just for my own knowledge.
