sound problems


well my sound did work i have no idea what happend
im running sarge i am desprate need of help im a total linux noob
kernel 2.4.27-2-386
Audio Card: (Built-In)
CS4281 3D PCI

it tells me dsp somthing loading null output
do i need to recompile the kernel and if so how
or configure it correctly i thought there was a menu to do this


plese help me

Hi, darkraider.

Try looking for /dev/dsp. Is it there? Also, please post the outcome of typing "lsmod" at a terminal.

You may need to recompile, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. If that is the case, there are plenty of good how-tos on the web; just do a google search for them.

can he just try alsoconf first maybe that will get the sound running

i reinstalled debian since it was a new install before.
The sound works now
