Oh, I did not make myself clear for giving no details...
I thought everyone was having the same problem.
I was using the official debian site.
ftp://ftp.debian.org
Here is my first attempt:
I installed woody base system(the mini disc) first as sarge installer did not seem work.
Then edited apt sources.list, pointed it to the site above, followed by apt-get dist-upgrade.
After base system was upgraded, I runned tasksel, selected x system and desktop environment, which should give me both KDE and GNOME as in woody.
The program did not install KDE for me by default.
So, when sarge was up, I runned synaptic to get KDE manually.
I started with arts and kdelibs, which are essential and should be installed first.
It always complaint saying dependency was unmet.
Here is the second:
The same steps as mentioned above till base system is upgraded and up.
Then apt-get install X windows system and those K packages. Once again, it stuck at arts or kdelibs( I can't remember which one exactly as that was a couple of weeks ago).
Therefore, I thought someone purposely dumped KDE.
I did not keep any log (if there was any) and ignored KDE for the time being.
I made another fresh installation and then started playing with sarge.
Days later, I was not quite happy with the new GNOME and wanted to try to get KDE. And there came this post looking for help.
Anyway, thanks for you guys, I did not know there are so many options.
I am going to get KDE 3.2, so bye for now.
