problems with /mnt

I have a computer with two OS, from linux debian I can mount without problem the window's partition, but when I go to see all document en /mnt in visual mode, the computer say I don't have permission. I tried to use chmod but dosen't work.

What can I do?

It could be what it is your mounting on /mnt. If its a CD or a copy protected floppy you may need to specify the "-ro" (readonly) flag in your mount if you're doing it manually. I've seen issues where mounting a CD without that will cause issues even though you're not trying to write to it.

Change the line in /etc/fstab that mounts the windows partition so it includes the option umask=0, like this

/dev/hda1 /mnt/windows ntfs umask=0 0 0
