kernel panic on install debian sarge
I have a HP DL140 that we are tying to install Debian Sarge onto, there is no CD rom.
Getting an error cannot open dev/console file not found /sbin/init:432.
I get this message when I use a CD-Rom from another DL140 and remove it after the installation, put the cd-drive back in the computer and it boots fine. Fine, I see this is because of the changing device names, hard disk boots with the cdrom as dev/hdc without it shifts to dev/hda, so I tried adjusting it to /dev/hda in the fstab, no luck.
So I went ahead and made a USB Flash Thumbdrive configuration to install Debian, which works great until the install reboots, since I have to remove the thumb drive to let it boot the new drive install, it crashes here too. But the thumb drive shows up as a scsi drive, so I don't understand why this would happen as it isn't changing device ids on the hard disk.
Any help would be great, running in circles on this one.
