kernel: Disabling IRQ #177

I installed a new Nvidia 6600 video card recently and I see this error message a lot lately from the kernel. It's completely random and I have no idea what causes it.

When it happens my audio is all messed up and then I get frequent lockups in Firefox. Once I reboot it's fine again until I get that disabled message again.

What the hell is causing this and what is the remedy?

Thanks.

Acpi is having trouble with irqs. Google that error message for your debian version to see what's up. When I had similar trouble since I needed my usb2 ports I disabled the sound card and the error went away along with sound.
Have the latest BIOS for ACPI to work at its best and the most current kernel/config ;and a more recent xorg may be less touchy about your nvidia card. Depends on your hardware and what debian version/kernel you have. Peace.

Seeing as it is pushing out an IRQ of 177, you are obviously running an SMP kernel. What other cards do you have plugged into your motherboard? If you do have any other cards plugged into your motherboard (PCI), try moving them around a little bit.

I just had this exact same problem with an older quad-xeon motherboard when I tried to plug in an emulex FC card. The system would try to load the driver for the card, then break on an IRQ issue. Once I moved the card to a different slot, everything was fine.
