It will be a linux-image file, yes. The safest way to add it is to use apt install. That will install it alongside your current kernel and then update GRUB to add it to the boot menu. I think Debian then makes the new kernel your default, with the old one still there in case something goes wrong. If the new kernel works, you can uninstall the old one later.

I think I can do so only in one case, if I manage to turn on the wifi and then use the apt option, but when I run ifconfig -a , it does not show the wireless card !!?
Can any of you help me configure it with no gui ?

Thanks so much for all the help you offer here !

OK, I downloaded the linux-image-5.10, it needed linux-modules-5.10, which I downloaded two and installed both of them manually and rebooted the computer, in the grub it showed both versions and the 5.10 one now works!

Thank you all so much indeed for the help, I might need more help while configuring the software.

Thanks again !

Oops! I forget about the modules package. Yes, you always need both of those and the kernel versions must match.

any help ?

Also how can I configure the trackPoint mouse with its buttons? it does not work ?

I have one more question, is natural for gnome-shell to suck too much cpu time almost all the time ?or maybe there is some bug here ?could it be some applet ?
Any advice is greatly appreciated !
Thanks in advance,

I figured out the reason for gnome-shell to eat too much cpu, it is because I logged in gnome with wayland, when switched to Xorg it is fine now!!!
