Question Linux Mint 17.3 on Acer Aspire E15 freezing during boot and randomly during use

About half the time my laptop freezes during boot at the LM logo while booting. This laptop is a dedicated Linux machine. It also freezes randomly while in Chromium browser. The machine has a 500 GB HDD and 4 GB DDR3 L Memory. As a side note, the touchpad no longer works since loading Mint.

LarryHale,

Welcome to LQ.

There are ACPI problems with the Acer E15:

Post #3 should assist you:

Obviously substitute Linux Mint 17.3 for Elementary OS in the instructions (which I suggest you print first and keep handy).

If you are unfamiliar with nano:

Alternatively you can use text editors such as gedit or leafpad etc:

Code:
gksudo gedit /etc/default/grub

Thanks, the second link seems to have taken care of the problem.
