How can I re-install grub from debian-sarge cd
I have winxp and debian sarge in my machine. Because I need re-install windows xp, now I have no grub.
What can I do?

I'm not exactly sure, you can however re-install grub with a knoppix CD,
type:
Quote:
1. mkdir /newboot
2. mount -t <fs type of /> /dev/<whatever your actual device is> /newboot
3. chroot /newboot /bin/bash
|
then either
Quote:
grub-install /dev/<whatever your actual / device is>
|
or
Quote:
grub-install /dev/<whatever your actual hard-disk device is>
|
I can't remember which it is for the grub-install command. So what I do is use both commands.

sure, I once messed up my MBR multiple times, so I re-installed grub like 5 times, I had to use my XP install CD to fix my MBR and then reinstall again. I'm glad I could help
