Debian lxde to external usb hard drive
hi
i have an eeepc 900 with xp on it and wanted to use linux on it as well. so i thought to install a debian + lxde to my eternal 2gb usb hard drive. i have tried with debian mini cd's,but none of them recognize the ethernet, so the install doesn't work. i want this debian only with lxde and no apps except the basic ones which come with lxde. i also want to put the boot loader, probably grub, only on the external hard drive, so it doesn't affect my mbr for my main internal hard drive.
also i have found some directions to make the external install live, so it can be brought around.
reassuming, i need to put debian+lxde(no gnome or kde) on a 2gb external hard drive, along with bootloader, and no extra applications, and needs to have a separate bootloader and work as a live distro
any help???
thanks
