Unhappy debian freeze when accessing cd's

Hi,
I've got a big problem with my debian testing system. When i try to acces a cdrom drive (my scsi cdr or ide cd drive) the system freeze. It's append at any time, sometime, i can see the beginning of a movie with mplayer or the file i'm coping start and the sytem freeze.
I own a k7d-Master MB with two Athlon2000+ (old XPs ;-) with 1Go Ram and an ide IBM 80Go. Everything work perfectly when i dont try to acces my CD's (X, xawtv, ...).
I tried Kern 2.4.18, 2.4.20 and actually 2.4.21 provided by debian or compiled by me, but always the same thing.
Does exist incompatibilities between AMD762 or 768 chipsets and those kernels ?
Thank's for your responses.
Regards

Yes, it was an hardware problem but of my fault. In fact, in france during this periode, the weather was very hot and to down my processors temperature, i down the VCore in the bios ! since the VCore is set to "normal", everything is OK.

Thank's for your response, but i hadn't to test under Windows c'ause it doesn't live in my computer since i know Linux and especially Debian ;-)

Regards
