Need alternatives for accessing data from cd's

My usual method of putting in a CD and then double clicking the icon for that drive no longer works and I have 6 data CD's I need to get information off of. Is there any alternative method I can try to get the data off of the disks and onto this computer? My current error is

Quote:
Unable to run the command specified. The file or directory file:/misc/cdrom2 does not exist.
My distro is JAMD but it's Redhat 9 if that helps any. Thanks for any info.

Try a mkdir /misc/cdrom2 as root. Then try the icon again.

newB question here, but is the cdrom mounting properly?

mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

then try to ls /mnt/cdrom and see if it is there.

I agree. Try editting /etc/fstab and changing the "misc" to an "mnt". Then make sure there is a /mnt/cdrom2 directory.
