Hi,
1) my mouse does not work until I run xsetup.sh after every reboot.
Can I force DSL to use the 3button, serial com1/tty0 mouse somewhere?
2) The other thing I would like to know is how the .dsl packages can be installed.
In the DSL help-file the installation of .dsl files (if I am right) is explained for the Live-CD. But I do not understand how to install the .dsl files for a HD-install.
If i was right, the first step is to copy the .dsl files into /root. But what have i to do afterwards?
3) my keyboard is qwertz but it the configuration at X11 do not change it from qwerty qwertz? What can I do this change succesfully?
2) .dsl files are created for use with a liveCD. They'll work with a HD install, but you're still better off installing with apt-get/deb or installing a compiler. Extensions are built on non-DSL machines, and have files ripped out for space/compatability.
The are a few ways to install them. You could do "mydsl-load filename". You could browse to the file with emelfm, select the file, and click the myDSL button. You could choose the "myDSL Click and Load" menu item (mydslgui.sh) and have the file automatically downloaded and installed.
I'm afraid I don't know enough about x configuration in DSL to answer the other two questions.
ok then I am going to try installing from source, Do I need an extra compiler or is it already buit-in in DSL?
I use the standard desktop because this computer is not connected to the world wide web.
Concerning the standard/enhanced desktop there was mentioned something about net connection during the installation process.
Can I enhance the desktop afterwards without having the possibility to get into the www OR have I to extend the desktop to be able to install source?
I hope the mouse will be loaded after every reboot with X11 after modifying the XF86Config file with a text editor (not by a script).
There is tcc, but I have no idea how to use it. You might try installing gcc and make via deb packages, though the files will be huge compared to the base DSL install, and dependencies of course may take some effort to deal with. As a liveCD user I can't tell you much about DSL as a HD install...i can only assume that it works like any other linux distro once it's installed, unless you use the poorman install (running the ISO from harddrive).
The enhanced desktop isn't dependant upon an internet connection. It loads xtdesktop (icons) and some dock apps. There is at least one dockapp included which is useless without a network of some kind, but it should not prevent you from using the enhanced desktop.
I hope i did not the poorman installation. I closed X and typed "sudo -u root dsl-hdinstall".
Is this a poorman installation
I do not need any clock apps but I would like to have the possibility to add/remove icons to/from the desktop.
The most important thing for me is to get OpenOffice installed from source ( I have an e-book which gives examples how to install from source but I am not sure there is written something about a compiler what makes me feel uncomfortably).
gcc seems not to be included as package in DSL but the following tcc is included:
tcc 0.9.18-3 The smallest ANSI C compiler
