Just something I came up with that is probably not how actual programmers/scripters(?) would advise, specially the parameter/flag thing which is beside the point here.

if [[ $1 == "v" ]] ; then

echo $@

:    # ":" is a "do nothing" command

echo normal output

ver verbose output $a

Hi all, this is my first entry to this blog. I have been member of LQ for a while, I referred to this whenever I had a doubt regarding , of course, Linux installed in my system. To all the newbies here, if you were windows guy and planned to switch onto Linux( no matter what distro) then I'd prefer having a dual boot in your system. It might degrade performance a little bit but it allows you to switch to your previous buggy OS ;-) ...jokes apart, at some point, as you've just started, you are likely...

Yeah. There's no question. I think that I like computers too much. But not the new stuff, and certainly not the iPhone. I like the old stuff. Which is probably why I've started to play with NetBSD.

Let me tell you, it's one damn interesting OS. I know; there are some predicting their doom any day now, and NetBSD certainly could use some more developers/resources, but that doesn't change the fascination level. Or the fact that it clearly outperforms (subjectively) Debian on more than...

I just recently tried installing CentOS on a old Toshiba laptop (Model: M45-S269) which has a DVD-RW drive but functions only as a CD drive. So the easiest option for me to install CentOS was through the Internet.

Here is what I did:

1) Depending on your PCs processor architecture download the CentOS netinstall.iso file from
CentOS 5.4 ISOs

2) I followed the steps described in the following URL CentOS NetInstall 5.3 written by Chris Gountanis...
