On a personal note...

Recently, I had one of those "life's getting in the way" moments. In fact, it was the whole day. It left me very disturbed with the outcome of a project I had hoped to have finished and presently running. But things didn't turn out that way, and I wrote one of my friends ranting about my current misery.

Now mind you, this is someone who has known for about 20 years now. In fact, he says he knew me longer than that. We just hadn't formed a friendship until years after our being acquainted. So knowing me that long, he's well positioned to counsel me when things go bad. He knows me!

After I sent out this email, asking "Why does God keep f***ing with me?", he wrote me back, and had this to say. And knowing him, and how well he knows me, I wouldn't have expected anything less from him.

Quote:
Because simple things to you is other people's nightmares. If half of the world was as smart as you then there would be no wars. That's why when you try something simple to you it sometimes doesn't work. I don't think that God has anything to do with it. If you were rich, all of our lives would be better because you have taken the time to work out all the hard shit that no one else can..
You must be horny, otherwise it would have been easy to acomplish what ever you think is imposible.
That's really what it takes to have friends. They can get you where it matters when you need it the most. I found this to be very encouraging, and it lifted my spirits tremendously.

Thanks Doug!

I guess this could have been also titled, "when custom computer builds kick the crap out of you!
