Run Raspberry Pi’s PIXEL Desktop on a PC or Mac – an Exton modified Build 180315 with Refracta Tools

Softpedia 180315: Developer Arne Exton announced today the release of the third iteration of its Raspbian PIXEL remix rebased on the Debian GNU/Linux 9 “Stretch” operating system and synced with the upstream changes.

“Raspbian PIXEL for PC and Mac is a Debian-based operating system created by the Raspberry Pi Foundation for those who want to run the de facto standard Raspberry Pi OS on their personal computers too. Arne Exton did a remix of Raspbian PIXEL a few years ago to include the Refracta tools.

With the Refracta tools installed by default, users were able to easily install the operating system on their PCs or Macs, as well as to make their own remix of Raspberry Pi Foundation’s Raspbian PIXEL OS. Today’s update brings the latest software versions and rebases the OS on the latest Debian GNU/Linux 9 “Stretch” series.”

    iMac disappoints too, ya know.

Back in the late 1990's to early 2000. I used to have connections for brand new in the box mac laptops that fall off the delivery truck. So I would present them to my wife. I was not a computer user then.

She would complain about proprietary this and that which at that time just flew over my head with a sonic boom.
In other words. No clue what she was complaining about.

I think her girl friends she sold them to, still play online poker on those rigs.

Exton|OS 64 bit – based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS – with Budgie Desktop, Refracta tools, Calamares Installer and kernel 4.16.0-rc3-exton

Softpedia 180305: Exton|OS Claims to Be First Distribution Based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, Linux 4.16

"Arne Exton announced a new edition of his Exton|OS GNU/Linux distribution that's apparently already based on Canonical's upcoming Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) operating system.

Tagged as Build 180301, the new Exton|OS release is based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and features the lightweight and modern Budgie desktop environment created by the Solus devs. Budgie 10.4 is on-board this release, which comes with the renowned Calamares universal installer framework by default.

According to the developer, Exton|OS is now fully compatible with the software repositories of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, which means that users can install any upstream package they need. Also, Arne Exton claims Exton|OS would be the first GNU/Linux distro to be based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver), due for release on April 26, 2018."
