Detective Inspector Bruce Van Der Graaf

Having read this I sent this comment to the Commisioner's Office of the New South Wales police.

I'd just like to say a few words to congratulate the above Inspector for having the courage to say what needed to be said regarding the security (Or lack of it!) in Microsoft Windows. I am sure that his advice will encourage some people to migrate to a more secure operating system and will save a lot of people across the world from computer malware! I hope I have the privilege of helping some of the people who have taken his advise, in their switch to a Linux distribution. Please feel free to pass my hearty congratulations on to him. I have no doubt he will face a lot of abuse over his comments but I for one believe he did the right thing!

Best Regards,

Richard Clinker
OK, his advice isn't perfect but it's a hell of a start in the right direction!

With a firewall and antivirus windows is fine
and saying not to do something with an OS that has 80%
of the market share is pointless and fairly untrue

Both 3rd party add ons or MS's own just about adequate offerings. Iptables (Built in, not bolt on!) set up with Guarddog or similar and no A/V required has got to be a better solution!
