cannot connect to internet

please can someone help me I have a linksys router connect tomy laptop that needs an ethernet card becaues of the age of the laptop I also had a friend that up graded it from win 98 to 98 millennium, my problem is that all is connected from the router to the card . everything is lit up . then i get internet uable to link no page to display. so please help.

Linux From Scratch by a newbie, part deux...

Well, since the last entry, I completed LFS 6.1.1 successfully. I then realized that I was WAY to new to Linux to actually do anything with it. So I trashed it, installed Debian. I got to play with that Distro for about a month before my HD decided it wanted to take a crap. So about a month ago I got SimplyMEPIS installed and haven't used WinD'OHs since (well, except for my scanner ::shrugs:: whatcha gonna do??? lol).

So, I'm back to trying Linux From Scratch again, but this time...

Rip CD to FLAC, then convert FLAC to Ogg Vorbis

Assuming you want a FLAC copy, of course.
Use any good ripper app to extract to FLAC.
I'm currently using Sound Juicer, but under OpenSuSE I was using another one from the Gnome suite (called something like XCDRipper, which was more configurable than Sound Juicer).
Then, I found a script to convert to MP3, which I modified.
It doesn't like spaces in the filenames.

That thread also talks about cd2ogg, which has been very handy.
