Seek Intel running SolidWorks through Virtualbox through ISO of Win7 on Ubuntu1404

Posted 07-20-2015 at 05:51 PM by Peter T

I am wondering if anyone here has tried
installing VirtualBox on Ubuntu 1404; then installing the 'open source' ISO
of Windows7 [XP,8,or any other Distro] on VirtualBox; then installing
SolidWorks on the VirtualBox / Windows 'Frankensteined
partition', within said Ubuntu 1404 platform, as SolidWorks is
incompatible with Linux based systems. [or so I'm told]
[Long way around the barn ?...Do I need my head examined ?]

Or,,,, would I be better...

I just want to Thank all of you for putting up w/ me

Posted 05-31-2014 at 04:55 PM by Peter T

I have U14.04 alone on my HP. I did a fresh install and chose to let Linux set a 'logical' partitioning scheme
on it's own during the installation phase. I hope that will be okay for now, because I really am afraid to go in there and tinker.

Someone here was kind enough to mention 'transmission' as the app for torrents in the Linux realm.
I would like to hear more, or have a link posted for me to read.

again ,, thanks

Pete

Ubuntu has spyware enabled by default?

Posted 05-08-2014 at 05:14 AM by Peter T

@ k3?tO1

Do tell... about enabled spyware.

And what is the third element of your user handle ?

And from what I have read sofar, VitualBox with MS Word loaded
seems to be the only way users are able to 'bring over' doc's
formatted in Word to show up in Linux in a reasonable facsimile.

Enabled spyware REALLY ??? surely you jest.
