The "legacy os" people pride themselves in how they support pentium 3 and pentium 4 systems. Funny. We still use linux on pentium I and pentium II machines.

Thanx to all the people who have viewed http://www.instructables.com/member/computothought/. Over 236,000 views now.

Trying to think of a super simple example of cut and paste for a class. Here is what I came up with:

Set up the now insignia infocast with chumby 8 software to recieve music from a linux box running gnump3d. Had to run fapg to create an m3u file. Works a lot like a musac. Looking for a linux install so I do not have to depend on a network to allow me to use the unit.

Took the working parts (ram, harddrive from the machine that replaced the server) from my dead server to build another working machine. No more unused atx motherboards....

Finally have my robot up and running. It will probably just a butler for now. Wifi for that old p1 board was a real hassle. Overcame that issue.

Spent a lot of time on the Insignia Infocast. Upgraded it to the Chumby 8 firmware. At first, I really did not like it, but like anything it grows on you. Never used Arch Linux, but can not wait to see what it can do for the unit. The now aka Chumby 8 will give that product from Cupertino, California a real challenge as well as Android....

It was low on ink, but it makes a superb color scanner. Remembered that I had some scanners that at one time did not work with linux. Two were usb. Tested one and it worked fine with B/W. Could not find the power block for the other one. I will look around. parallel port scanners are going into a robot...
