A learning weekend.

Posted 02-25-2013 at 04:59 AM by peonuser

This weekend was very productive. Still have not cleaned up the mancave. It is getting even more crowded so to speak.

Learned to use an ipcamera with motion. Had to go to the Zoneminder wiki to find the answer about what stream to use.The manual sure did not have that information.

Installed Netbsd from five floppys and the internet on an old pentium one. Just did a command line setup. Very intersting. Played tetris for a while. Found that old motherboard does not like 1g and wifi cards.

Updated the ltsp server. that corrected some login issues.

Spent more time than I would have like trying to get access points to work as an access point client. One unit plain did not work. Researching the internet confirmed that issue. Went on to use a different model with positive results.

Setup the web server to support gpxe network setups for Debian, Mint and Ubuntu 12.04. Just a matter of copying a couple of file and the extracting another. Might learn to do it for Messy Windoze.

Played musical printers to see which one still had ink.

Di a tutorial on how to put ends on a network cable. good old wo-o-wg-bl-wbl-g-wbr-br

Did a video on pxebooting diskless.

etc etc etc.
