Installing on a Vaio XG29k

I posted this at the arch linux forum as well, but figured i would try here too.

I tried to install arch on a Vaio with Xentacs iso as well as a 0.6 iso. the install went fine until i tried to install lilo or grub and both failed. I could boot using the disc and pointing to root, but that was it. Lilo would just outright fail during install and grub would throw an error and say it was installed but wouldn't boot. I don't recall the errors right now, but has anyone come across this before?

did you check your config files first and verify that they are properly set up?? If so, and it still failed..did you boot with cd and then try to install from within the OS?

I would recommend to boot with cd.. do a full 'pacman -Syu' so everything is up to date. Check you /boot/grub/menu.lst and make sure it's working.. then try to install grub again.
