Unhappy help!! installing redhat on sony vaio r505el

hello,
i have recently purchased sony vaio r505el and i was getting tired of windows xp and wanted to experience the wonderful aspects of linux. i want to do a dual-boot installation keeping xp just incase. i have partitioned the hard-drive into two partitions using partition magic (C: - NTSF windows xp 16GB and D: - FAT32 empty 12GB). i'm actually SUPER new to linux and i actually don't know what i'm doing i don't even know why i made D:/ drive FAT32. I tried to boot redhat 8 off the cd and i was able to get into the installation but after choosing language as US the next screen it took me to was choosing installation method; either from NSF, FTP, etc... for some reason it went directly to network installtion and couldn't detect automatically that i'm trying to install from a cd. i burned 3 cd's on my own through burning the iso images of redhat 8 off the internet. please help! thank you so much.

i'm a bit perplexed, I don't remember this option in the install at all. I remember choosing language, then asking if you'd like to upgrade or do a fresh install, then it asks what type of install (custom, workstation, desktop, server,etc.).
Do you get any of these options other than language?

well i got to choose language and then it took me directly to network installation screen, for some odd reason i don't think redhat is recognizing the cd as a redhat installtion cd. so i can't even skip the network installtion screen. =(
