ping -f makes OpenBSD stop working ?

I've been visiting the technical area of a pretty huge internet site. As firewall they use FreeBSD. I asked why they didn't go for OpenBSD:

"We did a ping -f on 3 boxes: FreeBSD, OpenBSD, some linux box and only FreeBSD didn't stop working ("ipstack")."

This sounds pretty strange IMHO, anybody knows some details ?

Unfortunately, without knowing the hardware and OS configs of each of the systems, it's rather difficult to determine what the cause is. It could be something as simple as a the OpenBSD system bogging down trying to log the "ping -f". It would be rather unusual for the OpenBSD let something so simple slip through as a DoS attack.

Well I doubt a ping -f would bring down OpenBSD, but I'm unsure. I didn't try early versions of it. The setup was done about 5 years ago I bet ... so it would be a pretty early stage of OpenBSD.
