MAKEDEV not found


ive set up my sound module, but now when i goto /dev and
MAKEDEV snd0

i get MAKEDEV not found

ive allso tried sh MAKEDEV snd0 like in the handbook, but no luck

i am log'd on as root aswell just so u know

What version of FreeBSD? And how did you 'set up your sound module'?

To my knowledge /dev doesn't hold character special files that have to deal with your soundcard.
Although, you might want to tell us what exactly you did to, "Setup your soundcard." (As previously stated by Stack =))

Check dmesg or /var/log/messages and look for your soundcard. You also might want to recompile your kernel if you haven't already.

Well he isn't really wrong because MAKEDEV was the old way of doing it...

yeah after spending some more time on it, i realised DEVFS is supposed to take care of it all automaticly. so ive loaded all the sound modules and it works now.
