As evo2 suggested, use it for a while and decide for yourself now that you have it installed. There really isn't a right or wrong answer. Choose the distribution that you like and that does what you need it to do. No need to doubt anything.

Instead of Ubuntu try Debian 6.It is a very good place to learn linux and stable.Don't use ubuntu 12.04 it is not that satisfactory.But you may like ubuntu 10.04.but ubuntu 10.04 is supported till april 2013 only.
