Installing scanner

How do I install the drivers for my scanner in Ubuntu 6.10?

My scanner works in SUSE SLED but I can't find anywhere to install the drivers? Its a MUStek 1200 cu flatbed scanner.

Mine ( A canoscan lide20 I think) worked when I just plugged it in.
The (KDE) application I use to make scans is called "kooka", I expect gnome has something similar.
