easy vnc method installation

alright, in ubuntu forums, there was a howto that showed how to use vnc the easy way. Basically the person installed apache and installed tightvnc java viewer. Then extracted those /var/www/. Then the guy enabled remote control on ubuntu setup. Then he went back to index.html and edited something out. I can't remember what the guy put.

Now apparantely ubuntu forums is down every time I access it so I can't access the howto. I tried the google cache as well but it didn't work. Please help. Thanks.

yeah it doesn't work. I guess it doesn't work with php files. Alright, there was another program on ubuntu that you could setup. It was called something like xmdmp or something. I know it started with an x. It was basically a vnc daemon as well. I don't remember the program name. Does anyone else know?

also take a look at www.ubuntuguide.org/ and find the remotedesktop section.

Ubuntu's built in Remote Desktop feature is VNC. For a quick and easy secure connection I pump the VNC port through SSH.
