How do you know the system is "going crazy"? When this occurs, try running "top" in the console to see what is using the most CPU. Also run "free" to see memory/swap usage. Post these here and we'll try to help.
On another note, this post marks the first time a 9th bit will be used to store my post count. That's right, 256 posts.
Bring up your diagnostics and see if its that or cpu usage, i have a 2.8ghz processor and 786 MB ram, and my cpu usage spike just from moving a window or scrolling a web page, someone said it could be because of me not having the proprietary ATI video driver installed, although i didnt have that problem in FC 3. Also, check to see if any unnecessary services are running
