stop things from starting with system?

There is an application, of the sort, rather a process, called kpowersaved
This process seems to make everything bad... in a way.
Is there anyway to stop it from starting up with the system?

Find the Debian startup scripts. In Slack they're located at
/etc/rc.d/rc.M but I've forgotten where in Debian...I think
it's something like /etc/rc?.d where ? is the run level...
