Problem with SUSE 9.3 router

I have a box I am trying to turn into a router, and while I can access the internet from the suse machine, the internal network is unreachable from the router and vice versa. I can see pings hitting the hub but no response on either side.

Here is my setup:

wan <---> router(192.168.1.1) <---> lan(192.168.1.x)

In YAST I have "enable ip forwarding" checked within the router tab, and I have Susefirewall2 off for now (though it didn;t work with it on either).

In my previous experience (mostly dealing with slackware) I have never seen a problem like this, it seems like the two machines should at least be able to contact each other. All I can find in the logs is an occasional

Jul 21 11:56:37 linux kernel: martian source 192.168.1.255 from 192.168.1.2, on dev eth1
Jul 21 11:56:37 linux kernel: ll header: ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:08:00:46:51:c7:86:08:00

though I dont know how it's related.

I have confirmed the configuration of the windows machine on another network, and it;s fine

Thanks in advance,

Raphael

Looks like I answered my own question, I decided to try new network cards (because I had that d-link cards and linux don't play well together) and everything works fine. Has anyone else here had problems with d-link cards?
