no thumbnail preview...

Howdy,

Currently new to Opensuse10.2 (although been playing with linux for 3 years now).

I discovered an annoyance:
When im browsing around my files via Konqueror, i noticed that i don't get the normal thumbnail preview for any of my video files (mpg, avi, wmv, etc).

When i was running suse10.0, i could quickly glance at the thumbnail and quickly determine what particular video it was.

But now on my 10.2, the preview is gone!!
I have to actually READ the filename to determine what the video is. And sometimes i still cant tell, so i have to actually play the video if i want to truly know.

lol

Does anyone know how to correct this?
i was thinking bout doing a reinstall... but i assume there is probably a simpler fix.
(and Yes, i have the w32codec-all, libdvdcss, and libxine1).

Tanks!

In Konqueror, try View - Preview ... Click on the unchecked file types you want to preview. See if that helps.

long overdue....

Hola,

I thought i'd never figure this one out.... but i did.

courtesy of Amon80 from 6 months earlier:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...l+preview+gone

he says:
"Using YAST, install the package kdemultimedia3-video-xine. It's the one used to generate the thumbnails."

I tried it, and now it works.

Hopefully this post will one day help someone else!! = ]
